HOLLYWOOD TREMBERS BEFORE SUPERSTAR

TAYLOR SWIFT

Hollywood is shaking under the power of Taylor Swift. While the release date of her concert film, “Taylor Swift: Eras Tour”, is set for October 13, 2023, several other productions have decided to backtrack and postpone their own debuts.

The reason ?

From the first day of ticket pre-sales in AMC cinemas, the phenomenon that is this American star's film has confirmed its astonishing popularity. More than $26 million was generated, surpassing the $16 million previously held by "Spider-Man: No Way Home" in 2021.

For the first weekend of its release, forecasts soar towards more than $70 million in revenue, immediately placing the singer's film among the most anticipated blockbusters of the year.

Faced with this tidal wave, director Jon Gunn deemed it wise to postpone the release of his film, “Ordinary Angels”, with Hilary Swank, also scheduled for October 13, to February 23, 2024.

Jason Blum, the producer of the next film "The Exorcist: Devotion", also initially scheduled for October 13, preferred to move up its date, fearing that Taylor Swift's artistic superpower would obscure his own masterpiece.

He even joked about it on X, formerly Twitter, by making an allusion to one of Taylor Swift's songs, concluding with the hashtag "#TaylorWins."

Taylor Swift's Phenomenal Effect

Taylor Swift is on all fronts. Last July, the 33-year-old American superstar released her 12th album titled "Speak Now (Taylor's Version)", which immediately took first place on the Billboard charts.

With this new achievement, she became the singer with the greatest number of albums ranked at the top of the sales of this famous American ranking since its creation in 1963. Thus, she dethroned Barbra Streisand, another icon of American popular music , who held this title until then.

In October 2022, the release of his tenth album even caused outages on Spotify and Deezer. "The Taylor Swift effect" has even made its way to the president of the New York Fed, who says the 33-year-old artist's tour has boosted the U.S. economy in recent months.

With 147 stadiums filled and nearly a billion in revenue generated, Taylor Swift looks like a true giant who seems to intimidate everything that crosses her path.
